Jeanne Hinkelman, Ph.D., Licensed Counseling Psychologist
Sunflower Psychological Services provides strengths-based performance support to adolescents and adults of all ages.
While many different forms of counseling exist, we provide a respectful, strengths-based, holistic approach that helps to build on what works for any individual at their developmental level. We use a number of models that fit with this approach. Strengths-based simply means that people have strengths, abilities and interests that are resources they can draw upon to develop and implement solutions for the issues that have brought them to counseling.
A solution focus will allow an individual to get life back on track as quickly as possible. Holistic means that we focus on the whole person, including behavioral, physical and spiritual aspects. We also acknowledge that sometimes people simply need to be able to come to a place where they can have a private, confidential conversation, one where they can talk, feel heard and not be judged.
Sunflower Psychological Services can assist with a wide variety of developmental and performance issues such as those found in sports, fitness, performing arts, career, workplace, business, academics/education, and life in general. Other issues affecting performance are also addressed including physical health, culture and language.
Performance psychology is the branch of psychology that studies the factors that allow individuals, communities and societies to flourish. The field of sport and performance psychology is concerned with the psychological factors that influence human performance. It involves assessment and intervention strategies that enhance an individual's performance and personal growth in several areas.
Most recently, performance psychology has included the study of the psychological skills and knowledge necessary to facilitate, develop and support peak performance guidelines into best practice for sport, business, fitness and the performing arts, among other areas.
